Turner’s War – Sound Editing

I started working on this film in 2010 and then it went quiet for a bit, as short films sometimes do. When it eventually came back round I was tied up on another project so I passed it on to a colleague to wrap up. Interestingly this was shot on 16mm film so one of the first issues I encountered was trying to minimise the camera noise on the dialogue track. I managed to wangle an invite to a local pheasant shoot to get some authentic gun and bird sounds. I have to admit I was a little disappointed by the sound of a real shotgun, not surprising considering my sonic expectations have been largely shaped by 90’s action films.
