Joint winner of the ‘Premio per la forma video’ award at the first Cityfest ‘Video Essay Film Festival’ held at MAXXI in Rome on July 7th 2020.

This video grew out of a conference presentation I did at the ’25 Years of Jurassic Park Conference’ held at Cardiff University in June 2018. My presentation considered the sonic threat of the dinosaurs in the franchise and as part of my research I noticed the similarities in the scenes depicted here and always wanted to explore them together. This is the result. I am very much a genre fan at heart and when I found Sobchack’s article it clarified this essay for me. To paraphrase “These films move, they are the movies.”
